A healthcare network in New York City is looking to add a licensed Psychologist to join their Emergency Department team at one of their Bronx facilities. In this role, the Psychologist will be responsible for providing professional / clinical services to patients in the Emergency Department to assess and address the need for psychiatric and/or substance abuse treatment, disposition and follow-up as appropriate. About the Opportunity:Schedule: Monday to FridayHours: 8am to 4pm Setting: Emergency DepartmentCall: NoneResponsibilities:The Psychologist will:Perform a comprehensive psychiatric evaluationConsult with the Attending Psychiatrist for evaluation of findings of the psychiatric, and health screening in order to make prospective decisions about treatment.Manage psychiatric emergencies by determining the level of risk, and initiating and coordinating effective emergency careContact the patient’s outpatient psychiatrist (or clinician) to exchange clinical information Develop a differential diagnosis derived from the collection and synthesis of assessment dataConsult with other members of the interdisciplinary team to determine, evaluate, and plan immediate treatment interventions, goals/objectivesProvide debriefing to Emergency Department staff after critical incidentsCoordinate with risk management team and NYPD to facilitate psychiatric treatment of Emergency Department patients who are in custodyPerform other duties, as neededQualifications:2+ years of post-licensure experience working with a Severely Mentally Ill populationPh.D. or Psy.D.in Clinical/Counseling Psychology from an APA accredited program1-year internship approved by the applicant’s graduate programDesired Skills:Knowledge of DSM 5Knowledge of a variety of theoretical models for the treatment of patients with psychiatric illness & the ability to apply themKnowledge of the OMH/Joint Commission regulations as they relate to Departments of PsychiatryKnowledge of charting requirementsYour privacy is important to us.
