Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician

We are seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician with POCUS fellowship training or extensive experience to act as lead for Emergency Medicine Point of Care Ultrasound at the Nemours Children’s Hospital (NCH-DE) in Wilmington, DE. Our division consists of 23 PEM trained physicians, 7 general pediatricians, and 7 PEM fellows in our fully-accredited PEM fellowship program, along with physician assistants and nurse practitioners. NCH-DE is a multi-specialty pediatric hospital and is the only ACS certified pediatric Level I trauma center in the state. We have a large catchment area, including all of DE, as well as surrounding states including PA, NJ, and MD. Essential Functions: Responsible for creating a POCUS curriculum for the Pediatric Emergency fellowship program. Provide lectures. Oversee quality assurance for trainees. Participate in developing POCUS related policies and credentialing requirements. Represent the Emergency Department as a member of the Hospital-wide POCUS Governance Committee in establishing a POCUS infrastructure for the division. This position would provide protected time to accomplish these goals. The division will provide necessary equipment and recently purchased a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine.The Emergency Department cares for over 60,000 patients a year in our 44-bed state of the art facility that opened in 2014 as part of a major expansion of the hospital. A portion of the department acts as a treatment area, seeing lower acuity patients and staffed by general pediatricians, PAs, and NPs. The Nemours Emergency Department is home to a 6-bed behavioral health unit that opened in 2023 and shares oversight and staffing with psychiatry to better serve our patients requiring psychiatric care.The Division also includes a growing research emphasis. We are a member of the GLACiER node of PECARN and involved in a number of multi-center studies. Our division has a strong educational mission and acts as a clinical home to many recognized outstanding educators. NCH-DE acts as the main hospital for residents from the Pediatric Residency Program of Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University/Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware. We also serve as a pediatric clerkship site for students rotating from Sidney Kimmel Medical College (SKMC) and we serve as a teaching site for residents in Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine programs from throughout the area. Faculty appointment and advancement are available through SKMC.Members of our division are active in research, quality improvement/continuous improvement and administration, as well as education.
